****Do not unnecessarily multiply stops.***
These stops should be sufficient; freelance stops will bog down the ride. The idea is for the ride to be brisk, efficient and swift. Pull in to the coffee shop, be amazed at the mileage, climbing and how early you are back. It was an exhilarating blur.
See Google Earth view below!
At regroups and rest stops the main group will wait for slower riders for a decent interval. There’s nothing too mysterious about this popular route, no one riding behind will be stranded. If you arrive at a stop and the main group has departed, find other riders and form an Element. Keep up, follow the route, and see if you can catch up at the next stop. The training will be good for next time.
-
Not here: Arastradero Rd and Alpine (Golden Oak Drive). This should be maybe a slow roll up the hill on Alpine, but there’s a rest stop in only 2.6 miles, regroup there.
-
Portola Valley Town Hall (Bathroom, Water on the left. Last chance before OLH)
-
Cal Fire Summit Station (water available, unlike corner of Hwy 9)
-
Big Basin Way and 6th Street in Saratoga.
Don’t miss the Portola Valley Town Hall, as it’s the last chance for BR or water in the 24 miles between OLH and Saratoga. So, anticipate this and be careful with the left turn!
